Alex Volkanovski is destined to make his UFC debut, but when?

Alex Volkanovski was the best fighter in Australia not to be signed to a major MMA promotion and getting that call was inevitable but getting the opportunity to step into the UFC’s octagon, is proving to be a waiting game.
Just this morning UFC Manila was called off and there went an opportunity for Australia’s Alex ‘The Hulk’ Volkanovski (13-1) to make his UFC debut. Four days ago it was officially announced that he would fill in for Mehdi Baghdad (11-5) who pulled out with injury from his scheduled fight with Jon Tuck (9-3) at lightweight.
So close to that debut but another setback won’t deter Volkanovski. He was apparently close to making his UFC debut back in March for the event in Brisbane, Australia as an injury replacement but the stars didn’t align on that occasion.
Volkanovski went back to the local scene and put on a stunning performance with a first round KO later in March and again showed why he is the best featherweight fighting in Australia with another first round stoppage in July.

Training out of Freestyle Fight Gym in Windang, on the south coast of New South Wales and also Tiger Muay Thai in Thailand, the Pacific Extreme Combat featherweight champion was looking to make a big impression on Guam native Tuck, who has shown glimpses of being one of the better lightweights in the UFC on his way to a 3-3 UFC record.
For now Alex Volkanovski waits for his next assignment. He confirmed to MMA Files today that the UFC has plans to give him a fight at a later date and with a UFC event coming up in Melbourne on November 27th, this would be the perfect place to make a debut.
Volkanovski mentioned he would be doing everything he could to secure a spot on the Melbourne card and display his skills in the biggest MMA promotion in the world. Hopefully this time there will be nothing standing in ‘The Hulk’s’ way to getting that long awaited UFC debut.
